Robotic Urology Fellowship

Since 2003, Dr. Porter has welcomed a fellow to train and work alongside him during his daily practice. Fellowship candidates have completed their urologic residency and are eligible to practice urology but choose the fellowship for an in-depth experience in robotic surgery. This one-year program provides comprehensive training in robotic oncology and reconstructive surgery. The focus is teaching the nuances of robotic surgery access, robotic setup, and surgical technique. The fellowship also includes experience in clinical research, writing papers for publication, teaching, and administrative responsibilities of a medical practice. Dr. Porter is currently training his 22nd fellow in robotic urologic surgery.

Dr. Porter's extensive surgical experience, with over 5,000 robotic-assisted procedures and more prostatectomies and partial nephrectomies than any other surgeon in the Pacific Northwest, makes him an international expert. The state-of-the-art operating rooms at Swedish Medical Center, specifically designed for robotic procedures, are equipped with the most advanced da Vinci robotic systems dedicated to achieving the best results. This exceptional training program combines the latest technology with the vast experience of a respected surgeon-scientist.
